01   /   THE BEGINNING

EVERY LEGACY
STARTS WITH
a vision.

Born in Melbourne in the late 1990s, Princes of the Night set out to create something beyond the conventional male revue.

Drawing on his entertainment experience in Japan and Singapore, founder Craig Wiese envisioned a production shaped by theatrical performance, distinctive characters, music, choreography and a sense of occasion.

The early journey began aboard Amazon Cruises on Melbourne’s Yarra River. Then came Wet Willies in Highlander Lane, where an intimate show combined performers, hosts, audience participation and a lively party atmosphere.

The name Princes of the Night emerged during those formative years — and a new chapter in Melbourne entertainment began.

02   /   THE MELBOURNE YEARS

BUILT ON

Long before the landmark Crown residency, the production found its feet through a succession of Melbourne venues — each contributing to its evolution.

03   /   THE CROWN MELBOURNE ERA

ONE MONTH
TO PROVE IT.
22 years to follow.

Crown Melbourne had always been part of the vision for Princes of the Night.

After personally pitching the concept to Frank Stivala of Primary Artists, founder Craig Wiese was given just one month to prove that Princes could deliver.

What followed was an ambitious transformation from Melbourne’s intimate stages to a full-scale theatrical production, with extensive rehearsals, new creative direction and a determination to succeed.

That one-month opportunity became an extraordinary 22-year residency at Crown Melbourne, establishing one of the defining chapters in the Princes of the Night story.

One opportunity. Twenty-two remarkable years.

04   /   THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SHOW

THE MEN
WHO MADE
the magic.

Across nearly three decades, close to 100 male performers have been part of the Princes story.

Every generation brought new personalities, distinctive performance styles and unforgettable moments. From the earliest intimate shows to full theatrical productions, the performers helped shape an entertainment identity that evolved over time.

As the historical archive grows, this page will celebrate the casts, characters and backstage stories behind the productions.
